3 Reasons Why Social Media Is Essential For Recruiting and Team Building

If you’re in charge of recruiting at your company, you know how competitive it can be to find talented candidates. But what if there was an easy way to find and connect with top prospects? Social media can be one way to do this, especially if you use it the right way, and this article will show you how. From Facebook and LinkedIn to Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok, you’ll learn how to find qualified candidates on social media sites while also strengthening relationships with current employees and even customers.

1) Brand Awareness

Employer branding is a way for businesses to project who they are and what they do. It should be clear who you are, what you do, and why someone should apply to your company. Branding can be achieved through various platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and even your Google My Business Profile.  The goal of employer branding is to attract the right people to apply for jobs with your company. Employers also need to present themselves in ways that show their culture and values. There are other online profiles as well that are specific to recruiting and hiring that you should consider.  If you utilize Indeed or ZipRecruiter to post ads, make sure your public-facing Employer profile is 100% complete and up-to-date. Websites like Glassdoor can give current and former employees the opportunity to leave constructive feedback and reviews for job seekers to see.

2) Show Your Human Side

Having a social media presence can also be instrumental in the recruiting process. Job seekers often want to see what your company culture is like and if they are a good fit. Showing your human side, and letting job seekers peek behind the curtain to see your company culture and environment is an easy way to get them interested and invested in your company. Lastly, social media is an excellent place to find talented people outside of your geographic boundaries. Posting jobs on Facebook or Twitter can lead you to qualified applicants from other states or countries who might not have found you otherwise.

3) Engage With People On A Deeper Level

Social media is a great way to find and interact with potential hires. The best part? You can connect and interact with potential hires on all social platforms. Whether you're looking for interns or new employees, social media can help you find them, too. If you're looking to build and maintain a strong team at your company, there's no better place than on the internet.

Be strategic with your connections on certain platforms. On Linkedin for example, only connect with people that you would hire or that would buy from you. Share the same social content relating to your company culture not only on the company's LinkedIn page, but yours as well.
