While hiring the right person for the job is vital, there may be certain things you’re doing that are holding you back from finding new employees who are right for your business.

1. Your Job Descriptions Are Too Specific 

Job descriptions that are too specific can be limiting because they may not appeal to the candidate you're looking for. For example, if you want someone who is proficient in a certain program but doesn't mention any other skills, you might get a lot of people applying with that skill but not much else. 

This is an issue because it limits the number of qualified applicants and makes the process more difficult. If instead, your job description was more general, like proficient in Excel, then it would be easier to find more qualified applicants and make the hiring process less laborious.

2. Not Enough Job Postings

The second thing that might be limiting your ability to hire is not having enough job postings. There are many reasons why this could be the case, but one of the most common is that you're not actively posting any new positions on your website or job boards. 

You may also need to reevaluate if you are making it as easy as possible for candidates to find and apply for open jobs. The more jobs you have posted at the right places, the more likely you'll find someone who is a great fit!

3. Not Using the Right Keywords

It's important that job descriptions include the right keywords in order to get the right candidates to apply. Using a keyword tool can help you figure out which words will get your ad in front of the right people, and there are also websites like WordTracker that allow you to search for keywords based on their popularity over time. However, don't list a bunch of keywords or you'll seem desperate! The trick is finding an appropriate balance.

4. Posting on the Wrong Job Board

If you are having trouble finding the perfect candidate for your open position, it might be that you're posting in the wrong place. There is no one-size-fits-all job board, and what works best for one company might not be the best option for another. To find out where your ideal candidates hang out, take a look at these options:
